GNA Business School at GNA University organized a One Week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Fundamentals of Research Methodology from June 22, 2022 to June 27, 2022 in its Auditorium for the Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students of GNA Business School, Faculty of Hospitality, Faculty of Animation and Multimedia and Faculty of Physical Education and Sports.

The main objective behind holding the FDP was to equip the fundamental and core knowledge and competencies of research to the inquisitive gathering so as to strengthen their research aptitude and to foster them the basic knowledge of research.

The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. Sameer Verma, Dean- GNA Business School and the following were the resource person for various Technical Sessions,

Day1: Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, GNA Business School, GNA University, Phagwara

Day2: Dr. Amit Mittal, Dean- Doctoral Research Centre, Chitkara University, Punjab

Day3: Dr. Hemant Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor, GNA University, Phagwara

Day4: Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Senior Research Fellow, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana

Day5: Dr. Parveen Singh Kalsi, Assistant Professor, GNA Business School, GNA University, Phagwara

The FDP commenced with the Lamp Lighting Session by the senior functionaries of the University proceeded by an Inaugural Address by the Worthy Pro-Vice Chancellor of GNA University, Dr. Hemant Sharma. The FDP was then taken forwarded divided into five technical sessions.

The first session taken by Dr. Manpreet Kaur witnessed at the basics of research, identification, formulation and handshake with the research problem. She also illustrated upon different databases for research and propounded upon the synoptic view of research process.

The second session taken by Dr. Amit Mittal emphasized upon the significance of literature review and building a research on a theoretical perspective and also focused on three major implications of taking a research namely managerial, practical and theoretical. He also focused on the importance of identifying the research gaps systematically.

The third session taken by Dr. Hemant Sharma iterated upon the significance of measurement scales, types of analysis and descriptive statistics. He also stressed upon a logical formulation of objectives using a unique research quadrant and further propounded upon its process.

The fourth session taken by Dr. Amanpreet Singh focused upon the use of Mendeley as an effective tool towards systematic referencing and other tools included in the same.

The fifth session taken by Dr. Parveen Singh Kalsi laid stress upon the significance of hypothesis and hypothesis testing. He also discussed various other concepts such as Types of Errors, One Tailed and Two Tailed Tests.

The Valedictory Session of the FDP on June 27, 2022 witnessed the Certificate Distribution to the Resource Persons and the participants of the FDP followed by a formal Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sameer Verma, Dean GBS to the learned gathering.
