GNA University organized Association of Indian Universities (AIU’s)  All India Inter University Football Tournament (Women) in its campus. . This competition served as a platform to seize the esteemed opportunity to be one of the top four teams at theNationalLevel.

From January 11 to January 16, 2025, GNA University hosted the competition. Teams from all four regions of the nation including GNDU Amritsar, LPU Phagwara, CBLU Bhiwani and GJU Hisar from North Zone; from the South Zone teams of University of Calicut, University of Madras, Vels University and Annamalai University; from the West Zone teams of Goa University, LNIPE Gwalior, HN North Gujrat University and University of Mumbai; and from the East Zone Adamas University Shimla, Vidyasagar University Midnapore, LN Mithila University and University of Burdwancompeted with each other for the coveted trophy

This tournament which observed its gala opening ceremony on 11January 2025, with a fervour of “football fury”, witnessed back to back group matches of sixteen teams for the first three days. Day 4 was dedicated to quarter final matches between top 8 teams, day 5 watched Semi-final matches and last day of the competition witnessed grand finale match and acknowledgement to team coaches and match referees for their relentless efforts during the tournament. For this competition to go smoothly, Dr.Parampreet, Head of the School of Physical Education and Sports, and his team, which included Dr. Suresh, Ms. Navdeep, Mr. Vijay, Ms. Manpreet, and Ms. Savita worked tirelessly.

The closing ceremony of this tournament was graced by Dr. Hemant Sharma, Vice Channcellor, GNA University.To witness the culmination ceremonyDr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics,  Mr. Kunal Bains, Deputy Registrar, Dr. Vikrant Sharma, Dr. Sameer Varma, Dr. CR Tripathy, Dr. Anil Pandit, Dr. Deepak Tilgoriya, Deans and Heads of various schools, faculty members and other dignitaries were there.

Every player’s passion and intensity were contagious throughout the contest. Many young players were inspired to demonstrate their abilities at this unique event, which would help the game in our nation. After fierce fighting in the quarterfinals, four teams advanced to the semi-finals. Among these, the Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani, team won the Winning Trophy by taking first place and receiving agold medal; the GNDU, Amritsar, team took second place and received a silver medal; the teams of Annamalai University and Lovely Professional University took a joint third place and received a bronze medal. Ms. Varsha Rani of CBLU, Bhiwani, was acknowledged as the Player of the Tournament and Ms. Pallavi of GNDU, Amritsar, was recognized as Emerging Player of the Tournament.

S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Chancellor of GNA University, commended the players, organizing team, and winners of the All India Inter University Football Tournament (Women). He urged the athletes to set high goals and persevere until they were accomplished. He reminded all of the players to be proud of being a part of this significant occasion and wished them all the best of luck.


Dr. Hemant Sharma, the vice-chancellor of GNA University, praised each player for their efforts during the competition and suggested that they maintain their mental and physical balance to perform effectively. He claimed that this competition demonstrated University’s unity and peace in addition to its love of football. It was an honour to host 16 teams from all around the nation, and it helped foster camaraderie and good sportsmanship.

The Dean Academics at GNA University, Dr. Monika Hanspal, asserts that athletics are an integral part of education. According to her, participating in sports helps us to accept both wins and losses as a natural part of life. A winner receives a scale from a loser to gauge their level of achievement. Additionally, it assists a loser in evaluating their performance and developing fresh winning mission techniques. For maintaining their agility and coordination throughout the games, she thanked each athlete.
