The Intellectual Property Management and Commercialization Cell of GNA University, in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), organized a comprehensive two-day workshop titled “Demystifying Intellectual Property Rights – A Comprehensive Workshop on Patents, Copyrights, and Trademarks” on January 16–17, 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. As the Guest of Honour, Dr Dapinder Bakshi, Joint Director (R&SP) and Coordinator (PIC) at PSCST graced the event.
The first day of the workshop focused on an introduction to IPR, covering various types of intellectual properties and their role in innovation and entrepreneurship. It featured keynote addresses and expert discussions on the vital role IPR plays in research, technology-driven growth, and supporting entrepreneurs. On the second day, the workshop shifted focus to practical aspects, providing detailed insights into the patent filing process, copyright, and trademark enforcement, and hands-on sessions on patent application drafting and IPR enforcement.

Distinguished experts, including Dr.Dapinder Bakshi and Ms. Divya Kaushik from PSCST, Er. Khushal Juneja, Director of Global Operations at Ennoble IP, and Mr. Setu Mishra, Vice President at Ennoble IP, shared their expertise. Interactive sessions on patent searching and filing procedures and discussions on the challenges and opportunities in IPR for entrepreneurs were key highlights. Participants were provided with step-by-step guidance on patent filing in India and were involved in practical exercises related to patent drafting and application filing.

The management of GNA University expressed deep appreciation for the outstanding initiative taken by the IPMC Cell in organizing such a vital workshop. They lauded the efforts to provide students and budding entrepreneurs with an in-depth understanding of IPR, acknowledging it as a significant contribution to their academic and entrepreneurial journeys.
The university management also commended the cell for fostering a stimulating brainstorming environment, where participants were encouraged to explore practical applications of IPR and its crucial role in innovation.The workshop successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application of IPR, equipping participants with the necessary tools to protect and manage their intellectual assets.
