GNA University, Phagwara along with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (Amul) hosted India’s largest Cook together through online. Both the organizations came together for this event where 977 People (Professional Chefs, Student chefs and home cooks) from 350 cities, 25 states & 11 various countries cooked together at same time and attempted for a record of “Most People Cooking Together Online”.

Food can connect ‘people’ irrespective of their social, demographic or any other sort of boundaries and to prove this an example has been set by Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University, Phagwara along with Amul. The whole event was conducted online on “Zoom App” and showcased live on Facebook page of Amul, keeping in mind the social distancing norms and global pandemic situation.

1250+ people registered themselves for this event from across the world. All the people together followed the recipe of Chef Varinder Singh Rana as “Cook with The Chef” initiative. The ingredients list was shared with all the participants and all participants cooked together online by following the recipe. All together prepared “Atta Paneer” which is unique and simple dish of North India.  In totality, it was total 977 Unique members cooked together online in one go at the same time. People from 11 different countries like USA, Canada, Botswana Africa, UAE, Indonesia and many more cooked together in this event and over 25 states and 350 cities became an integral part of this event and the whole world witnessed it through Facebook Live also.

“Students, professional chefs, hobby chefs and people from various professions joined the hand together and made it a huge success and it is “food” which has brought us at same platform despite of tough physical conditions around us.” said Chef Dr. Varinder Singh Rana, Dean-Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University.  He also thanked the management of GNA University and Pro-Chancellor S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra for the constant motivation and relentless support during the event.

The Pro-Chancellor, S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra praised the efforts of faculty and dedicated this achievement to all the chefs. “Food has no language, boundaries, religion and it has the greatest power of connecting people together and I am also very thankful to Amul for their immense support in this event”, he further added.

The Vice Chancellor, Dr. VK Rattan, GNA University congratulated the faculty members and students of Faculty of Hospitality for this great achievement and expressed that such kind of events are certainly the right steps for an organization that continuously strives to be among the leading Hotel Management institutes of India. Faculty of Hospitality has approached the Record making authorities to document the efforts. On this occasion Dr, R K Mahajan, Registrar, Dr Monika Hanspal, Dean- Academics, Dr Sameer Varma, Assistant Dean- Academic outreach, Mr Kunal Bains, Dy Registrar, Ms. Shweta Dy. Registrar Establishment and Mr Abhishek Dhawan, IT Head also shared wishes to all the participants.
