Faculty of Engineering Design and Automation students of  M.Tech CAD/CAM and B. Design at GNA University bags first position in India under the category of National Design Challenge on Innovative Design of Mobile Kiosk for Fish Vending.  The World Bank, along with Confederation of Indian Industry with the efforts of Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), organized a National Design Challenge – Mobile Kiosk for Fish vending for small fish vendors to ensure enhanced hygiene of space, safety of fish and minimization of wastage.

The felicitation ceremony of National Design Challenge was held at India Habitat Centre, Delhi.  The students along with the Dean, Faculty of Engineering Design and Automation Mr. C.R. Tripathy received award from Shri Jatindra Nath Swain IAS, Secretary Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, Shri K.S. Venkatagiri Executive Director CII and Shri Tapas Paul World Bank Specialist with One Lakh rupees cash prize and a trophy.

A total of 150+ teams shortlisted from different innovators, start-ups, organizations, University, Colleges, Institutes and Design Studio of India took part in this Challenge. Out of these 150 teams, 11 teams were selected for final round depending upon their innovative ideas. Two teams from GNA University got position in top rated teams. One of the GNA University team bagged first position in India and another team got the consolation award.

The evaluation panel members comprised of Director, National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology, Senior Executive, National Fisheries Development Board, Scientist F and State S&T Programmes, Dept. of Science and Technology (DST), Head Transport Snowman Logistics India, ESG Manager Delightful Gourmet Pvt. Ltd., Chief R&D officer, Fresh to Home, Skill Development and capacity building consultant, The world Bank and Deputy Executive Director, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

During felicitation ceremony, GNA University Design Team presented their Design in front of all the delegates and honourable ministers. The delegates and ministers were impressed with the Idea and Design of the team. They were very happy to see such a latest technology being used by GNA University.

During the ceremony, the members of other teams and delegates discussed with Dean C.R. Tripathy, GNA University about the latest technologies and their adoption in GNA University. He said “S. Punjab as an industrialist understands the need of learning new technology in this modern era of globalization; it all under his stewardship”.The delegates and panellist appreciated GNA University for engaging the students in industrial live projects and advance technologies. They also showed their gratitude to S. Gurdeep Singh for his consistent perseverance and valuable contribution in imparting quality education.
