Two days Faculty Development Programme on “Advanced Materials & Manufacturing for Industry 4.0″ (Virtual Mode) was organized by Faculty of Engineering Design & Automation (FEDA) under the flagship of Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), GNA University Phagwara. The main objective of the FDP was to bring forth the advanced materials and manufacturing for the industry 4.0. Dr. Anuranjan Sharda, Professor, FEDA was the Convener of the FDP. Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Rattan, the Vice-Chancellor of GNA University, was the Chief-Guest of this program.

Expert speakers from IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Ropar and other premiere institutes shared their knowledge and expertise with the august gathering on both the scheduled days. The 2 days programme accomplished its aim of gaining insight into the latest trends in advanced materials, the exchange of digital data in non-conventional manufacturing processes, and explore opportunities for Research and Development.

Dr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academic Affairs in her address, briefed about the details of the FDP and emphasised upon the use of recent technology and need to anticipate the necessity of automation in Indian manufacturing units to remain relevant in the long term.

During the First Session Dr. Pulak Pandey, Professor IIT Delhi addressed around 125 participants about the latest techniques in Additive manufacturing and its application in Biomedicals

In the subsequent sessions, many eminent speakers from premier academic institutes and Industry including Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Professor & Dean Academics PEC, Chandigarh, Mr. Ravi Patil, National Manager Technical (Additive Manufacturing) Design Tech Systems Ltd., Dr. Harpreet Singh, Professor & Dean Industrial Consultancy &Sponsored Research, IIT Ropar, Dr. Harlal Singh Maali, Associate Professor, MVNIT, Jaipur, Dr. V. K. Gupta Prof and Head, Mechanical Engineering department, Punjabi University, Patiala, Mr. Kamal Batra Senior Director PTC Education (Asia, MEA, ANZ, Eastern Europe.) & Mr. Sumeet Uday Khasnis Senior Group Leader Global Technical Sales PTC India (Bangalore), and Dr. R. S. Mullik, Associate Professor, IIT Roorkee delivered their expert talk on advanced materials & manufacturing processes, agile manufacturing environment, inspection techniques and data exchange in the digital world with regard to industry 4.0.

Dr. V.K. Rattan, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts made by Faculty of Engineering Design & Automation in the field of Research, Training Programmes, FDP, Conferences and thanked the participants for showing immense zeal.

Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Pro-Chancellor expressed, “I am really elated to witness the appreciable number of participation in this FDP from across the globe.”

Mr. C.R. Tripathy, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Design in his vote of thanks appreciated the efforts of S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra CEO GNA Gears and Pro-Chancellor GNA University in providing the opportunity to organize such events during this pandemic. He further said, “These types of events are vital for up gradation of knowledge and skills of academic fraternity.”
