GNA University organized “National Nutrition Week”, 2K19, on the campus bearing theme of National Nutrition Week 2019 “GO FURTHER WITH FOOD & HIGHLIGHT ON SUPERFOOD IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT”. The overall objective of this event was to intensify awareness on the importance of nutrition for health which in a way has an impact on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately national development.

The week commenced on September 2nd, 2019 with an inauguration ceremony the Vice-chancellor, Dr.V.K Rattan and the Registrar, Dr. Narendra Awasthi showed their presence and shared their thoughts with the students of Hospitality. Chef Varinder Singh Rana, Dy Dean-Faculty of Hospitality welcomed all the guests and shared the theme and nutritional concepts amongst all.

The Event was celebrated with different activities performed by the enthusiastic students of Faculty of Hospitality. There were also a number of competitions and activities arranged to spread awareness on the importance of nutrition for better health through Poster/Painting making Competition, Rangoli Competition, Nutrition Based Model Exhibitions Displayed Competition, Nukkad Natak Competition and Paush vyanjan Cookery Competition.

The Valedictory ceremony of the week was organized with the expert talks of the Chief Dietician Vaishali Bharara, PIMS Hospital Jalandhar and Dietician Preeti Bhambra, Area Technical Head VLCC Both expert encouraged to student for being fit and healthy. Mrs Jasleen Sihra, Nutrition Expert showed her presence as the Chief Guest wherein she encouraged the efforts of Faculty to organize such events where health issues have been highlighted.

Ms. Archie Sehgal, Director, Cynosure International Prep School and renowned motivational speaker was the Guest of Honour. She inspired the students and the participants to stay happy and healthy. Prizes were distributed to all the winners by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. The event was concluded with nutritious cake cutting ceremony and student photography session. Chef Varinder Singh Rana delivered the vote of thanks. Honourable Pro Chancellor, S Gurdeep Singh Sihra boosted and cheered the efforts of Faculty of Hospitality for this wonderful and whole-hearted effort. Dr Monika Hanspal, Ms Vaishali Thakur, Ms Shagun Khaira, Chef Ashish Raina, Chef Manjinder and other faculty members were also present during the event.
