GNA University organised National Nutrition Week with an objective to make students aware of the role of nutrition to maintain good health in present scenario of global health crisis. Faculty of Hospitality organised various activities under national nutrition week celebrations 2021under the theme‘Feeding smart right from the start’.
The celebration commenced with the online webinar on the topic ‘Nutrition and Immunity’. The invited guest speaker was Dietician Shavette Batta, Head of Department, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana. She pointed out to the immunity increasing foods, activities and lifestyle that our young generation should adopt to ensure good health and immunity.
Poster making competition was another activity that was organised in which students of Hospitality at GNA University participated enthusiastically. In this competition, Mr. Tarun Singla from B.Sc. (Culinary Arts) was the first winner. Video making competition was organised on the same theme where Mr. Prithvi Solanki from B.Sc. (ATH) stood first in this competition. ‘Cook a rainbow meal’ competition was another event that was organised under National Nutrition Week. On the last day of nutrition week, an online webinar was organised on the topic ‘Eat healthy Stay Bright’. The invited speaker was Dietician Ritu Sudhakar, Faculty Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana. She pointed out her talk on nutrition, mindfulness, sleep, exercise and constituents of healthy eating plate.
S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Pro-Chancellor, GNA University said, “Upholding of such activities are must to make students aware and highly informed about food choices, cooking methods and staying healthy and fit.”
Dr. V.K. Rattan, the Vice-Chancellor expressed, “I am delighted to witness the enthusiasm put in by Team FOH in organising the special week.”
Dr.Raj Kumar Mahajan, (Registrar) and Dr. Monika Hanspal, (Dean Academics) and other dignitaries from GNA University also attended this event.
