GNA University in collaboration with GNA Gears organized Cycling Marathon with an objective to follow the daily regime of a healthy and fit body. This marathon covered the distance of 34 km as it started from the GNA University’s campus towards Jalandhar via Phagwara city from the underpass near Haveli get back to the campus itself.
The members of Punjab Bike Club, Fit Cycle Life Group, Phagwara Peddlers, Phagwara Bikers, Jalandhar Biking Club and The Bike Store Hoshiarpur Cyclewale participated in this event and our radio partner was Radio city 91.9 FM. Around 100 cyclists, including cycling club members, students and faculty members were part of this marathon.
First position and a cash prize of 10,000 rupees was bagged by Navdeep Singh, second position and a cash prize of 5000 rupees was taken by Ekampreet and third position with 3000 rupees was secured by Tarlok Bhatia.
Mr. Paramjeet Singh, DSP, Phagwara graced the event as a Chief Guest who was very much impressed by the talent of the participants. He also complimented GNA University for taking such initiatives. He stressed that champions are made by strong vision, determination, skill and will. Also, he urged the youth to focus on physical fitness and get more involved in sports.
S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Pro-Chancellor, GNA University congratulated all the winners and conveyed his best wishes to all the volunteers for managing the whole event with full vigour and enthusiasm. He also stressed, “Cycling is very important for all of us in this hectic world as it helps to maintain body balance and protects us from diseases.” Speaking on the occasion, Dr. VK Rattan, Vice-Chancellor, GNA University said, “Cycling is an exercise which helps in making body fit and energetic and has been practised by many people. He urged the gathering to make cycling an integral part of their life as it provides mental and physical strength. He expressed his happiness to see that the enthusiastic participation of various clubs, students and faculty members.”
While delivering the Vote of Thanks, Dr. R K Mahajan, Registrar, GNA University congratulated all the participants and urged the others to follow this beneficial practice and make it a part of daily life. He said, “Cycling provides mental peace as a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.”
